Confession: I'm a cinnamon WHORE

I'm sorry to use such profuse language, however, the word "whore" accurately describes my TLC for cinnamon.  It's not a new observance; rather, one that I've noticed for quite some time, but didn't think to ever share!  From everything to eggs and sweet potatoes, cinnamon takes over my whole feast, but I have no shame in that.  I LOVE cinnamon and I'm not afraid to say it :)  In fact, I went through a whole 20 oz.  jar of ground Saigon cinnamon in a matter of a month.

Mmmm, is my cinnamon addiction making it to the top of the list with my nut butters addiction?  I think not-- at least not yet, but cinnamon, you're pretty up there!

Do you have any raging food passions in you?  So much that you can't go a day or meal without?

Thank you, Costco--you have provided me with some tasty cinnamon, super-sizing it so that it'll take me a bit longer to finish! :)

I don't doubt where my love for cinnamon comes from, in fact I know where it derives.  My mom has deep passion for cinnamon as well--she grew up eating cinnamon right from the stick, not ground!  Today she keeps that affection rekindled by boiling cinnamon sticks every morning for cinnamon tea.  Don't think I don't steal any, cuz' I do!

I have been putting things into my mouth other than cinnamon--Not to worry!  However cinnamon "perfumes" many of my dishes.....

Yesterday I made something quick and light on my tummy since I was rushing to get to an orthodontist appointment and I swam after.  Nothing beats Fage greek yogurt, honey sesame cashews and mango.

Plastic containers make WONDERFUL bowls, by the way, as do nut butter jars :)

And some "cinnamon" tea, of course.  Like my cup?

After swim, I was quite famished again, that yogurt parfait wore off quick!  With my leftover diced tomatoes, I whipped up some Cashini Butter chili, using Artisana's Cashini Butter instead of peanut or almond butter.  It was supper tasty, the cashini butter made it really creamy and luscious.  I put a big scoop of avocado on top and had a salad with tomatoes and pumpkin seeds on the side.  Oh, and some green-y grapes.

Beautiful colors, huh?  Despite the colors, I managed to burn my tongue AGAIN, as always with soup or chili-- I'm not patient!

I was in no mood to cook after class yesterday, so I just made a simple semi stir-fry salad, with the addition of some tofu cooked in soy sauce, ginger and garlic.  Ak-Mak crackers rounded out the meal.


I had a late shake after swim this morning (Chocolate rice protein, strawberries and almond milk) so I wasn't too hungry, however, I knew I should eat lunch still, so I did.
I had some kale/carrot slaw and broccoli; broiled spaghetti squash rubbed in LOTS of olive oil; roasted tomatoes and leftover black beans. It was a bit of a funky meal, but it worked. 

I had the afternoon off--sans classes or work-- so I used that to run errands and of course, get my eyebrows "did".  It was a restful day.

For some reason, I had been craving nut butter all day, even though I sufficed my nut butter monster in me twice already today.  Oh, and sweet potatoes.  

So I sufficed that with a hearty snack, as I was hungry again: A bowl of whole milk, plain yogurt (not Greek :( ) spiked with LOTS and LOTS of cinnamon (the first monster in me) and topped it with a baked sweet potato rubbed with a generous amount of coconut oil and cinnamon.  I topped the sundae yogurt mess with another generous amount of almond butter and more cinnamon.
It was SUPER yum.  I do recommend that combo if you've never tried!

  1. Glad you enjoyed the pizza in your last post. Jealous you had fresh basil for yours. I bet that made all the difference...as did the sweet potato with cashini on the side. :)

    OK, best cinnamon I've ever eaten: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/vietnamese-cinnamon-2-oz. My mother-in-law had it, and I literally was eating it from the container with a spoon. So good.

    I preferred the photo without the flash. , you can always lighten up darker pics. However, it's hard to fix an overexposed shot. At least that's how it goes with my camera. :)

  4. Thanks Ashley, yes, cinnamon is definitely a give-in :) I'm trying to try the different varieties such as vietnamese, mexican, thai, etc... there's so many different kinds!
